MULTILINKS-TELKOM USSD-LIKE SYSTEM

Growth in wireless technology has brought about dynamism in mobile service provisioning; made more visible through emergence of services like the Unstructured Supplementary Service Data (USSD).
 
MTech Communications Plc offers a robust USSD-Like Value Added Service Platform to deliver fantastic services to customers of Multilinks-Telkom. This platform enables subscribers to perform self-help services such as Credit Transfer, Balance Recharge, Balance Check/Query, Tariff Migration and Call Me (On Net and Off-Net), SMS Menu Request, etc in an easy way. This project involves connection to several core network elements through several protocols including SS7 (SIGTRAN AND ISUP) and proprietary APIs.

MTech drew strength to deliver the solution from her nine years of operations as a Value Added Service provider for 10 telecommunication companies in four countries. Her local presence in Nigeria provides assurance of prompt support and understanding of subscribers’ needs.  

 

STAR FORTUNE PROMO

The Nigerian Brewries Plc Star periodic promo (STAR Fortune Promo) took on a fresh look with weekly draws around the nation. MTech was on hand to provide a convenient and robust method for sending entries for the draws via SMS, we also provided a web portal for online entry upload, viewing and downloading entries logs and to support customer care personnel in managing contestants inquiry. The actual SMS hits was above 1.2 million for the whole show. MTech went a step further by developing and implementing an electronic draw system to pick winners for all prizes during the show, this eDraw system made winners selection transparent and more reliable.

 

GLO WAP PORTAL

MTech created the Wap portal for Globacom whereby users can access the Globacom website through their mobile phones. The Globacom Wap portal is a portal where everybody on the network can browse and purchase contents ranging from music to wallpapers, animation and so on. MTech also provides up to 70% of its content.

 

WHO WANTS TO BE RICH
Client: ALTIMA MEDIA

Project Overview: the client wanted to launch a service  where a subscribers would  send  personal details to an advertised short code  after which a question is sent back (to the subscriber) via  return message through the same short code. The subscriber would be required to answer the question through the same short code to complete the transaction or qualify to play the game. The objective being to separate the billing procedure by creating a two way transaction. The ALTIMA MEDIA “who wants to be rich” was implemented by MTech and launched in 2009. MTech has successfully run this service to date with actual SMS hits close to two hundred thousand per week.

 

PLAY TV GAME SHOW

Project Overview: TV3 wanted a game show that will expand their viewership. MTech was able to design a game show that was very captivating and enticing. The PLAY TV SHOW Service was implemented by MTech and launched in December 2008. MTech has successfully run this service to date with actual hits of SMS and IVR close to fifteen thousand hits per show.

 

RINGBACK TONES

Project Overview: MTech currently provides well over 2000 Ringback Tone contents on all GSM operators in Ghana providing the Caller Ringback Tone service. Today, RBT service is one of the major sources of income for MTech.

 

RBT PLATFORM
Client: ZAIN Ghana

Project Overview: In 2008, MTech was awarded the contract to setup and deploy a caller ringback tone platform on the Zain Ghana network. Zain has since launched the caller ringback tone service in February 2010 on MTech’s RBT platform, making it the only content provider locally to achieve such status.

 

ZAIN AFRICAN CHALLENGE

Project Overview: This service was created purposely for viewers watching the ZAIN African challenge quiz competition from their homes . Viewers were required to answer a specific question posed by the quiz master during the competition. ZAIN  wanted a web portal(SMS content viewer) where they view and select correct entries or answers. The service was first created  in 2008. It has since been implemented and has successfully enjoyed two editions of the ZAIN African challenge.

 

TV3 REALITY SHOWS

Project Overview: TV3 wanted a platform where they can create a voting service for the execution of their reality shows.  In 2007, SMS and IVR Voting platforms were successfully created by MTech for the commencement of all TV3 reality shows such as Mentor, Bands Alive, The last Warrior, Ghana’s Most Beautiful etc.

 

CUSTOM SOLUTIONS SERVICES
Project: Mobile Flight Enquiry Service
Client: Virgin Nigeria Airways

Project Overview: Virgin Nigeria needed a customer service platform on which vital information could be made available to their customers. MTech deployed a mobile flight enquiry service whereby information such as; current flight schedule, latest offers and promotions could be made available to travelers on their mobile phones. MTech also provides Virgin Nigeria with the SMS Broadcast service, (MC@st), for marketing and advertising.

 

RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT
Client: Centre for MicroEnterprise Development
Date: Q3 2005
Project Overview: CMD wanted a research conducted on the transaction medium used by Micro Finance Institutions and to propose a mobile technology solution. They intend to provide a convenient and user friendly medium for financial transactions. MTech then went ahead to conduct an extensive research on the current medium applied and proffered a mobile technology solution which is cost-effective and user friendly, putting into consideration the limitations on the current procedure.

Projects Overview: These media outfits required a service to make radio programs more exciting and interactive for their numerous listeners. MTech managed to meet this objective by partnering with them and implementing SMS-based services for voting, games, requests, jokes and ringtone download. This is has significantly increased listeners patronage and participation.

 

SPORTS INTERACTIVE SERVICES
Project: "Pepsi on the Ball”

Project Overview: Pepsi intended to make their weekly football show called “Pepsi on the Ball” more interactive. We deployed an SMS based service which enables viewers partake in competitions, quizzes and to send in their predictions and response to questions to win prizes.

Projects Overview: the network operators provided a platform for embedding content on the SIM cards in order to make it easier and more convenient for subscribers to download. MTech went ahead to provide over 70% of entertainment, sports and news content for Glo.

 

SMS-TV SERVICE
Project: Tunisia 2004 Nokia African Cup of Nations

Project Overview: the client wanted an interactive service for the live match broadcasts. MTech successfully implemented an SMS-TV service, for the first time in Nigeria, where viewers sent in their comments and goodwill messages via SMS, which were scrolled, live during the matches.

Project Overview: the client wanted an interactive, real-time service where viewers could send in their messages, requests and greetings via SMS, during the live TV program. An SMS-TV service was also successfully implemented, and the text messages are scrolled live on the program. The service currently runs on Silverbird TV.

Project: SMS Voting
Client: Africa Unite Music Group/MOBO

Project Overview: AUMG, a UK-based organization partnered with MOBO for the annual Awards, and required a voting platform for Africans to cast their votes for their best act in the newly formed category for African Artists at the Awards. MTech provided an SMS based technical platform to log and collate the votes from all parts of Nigeria.

 

RELIGIOUS SERVICES
Project: “Power for Living”
Client: The Redeemed Evangelical Mission
Date: Q2 2004
Project Overview: TREM wanted to provide inspiring messages to their Christian brethren daily. MTech developed a service called “Power for Living” whereby subscribers purchased, readily available, scratch cards which contained secret PIN numbers, with which they use to subscribe and then receive inspirational messages on their phones for a month.

Client: The NASFAT Society of Nigeria
Date: Q2 2005
Project Overview: NASFAT sought to further enlighten their Muslim brethren and required a convenient means of doing so. We provided them with a download service with both an IVR and SMS subscription option. The subscribers then receive inspirational messages from the glorious Qur’an and Hadith of Prophet Mohammad for 6 days after subscription.

 

MOBILE BANKING (MB@NK)

Project Overview: The Client needed a technology solution to enable them provide their customers with cost effective and convenient access to banking services anytime and anywhere on their mobile phones. MTech developed this solution to operate over the GSM network utilizing such applications as Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) and short Messaging Service (SMS). This product has enabled our client develop an effective customer relationship with its customers, reduce traffic in banking halls and expand its existing customer base.

 

INTERACTIVE MARKETING

Project Overview: BAT wanted a platform developed to run different SMS based competitions for their customer database. MTech developed the in-bound /outbound server and a gaming engine to run different SMS-based games. Throughout the year 2003, MTech has used this platform to run several campaigns for BAT.

 

PREPAID VoIP SERVICE

Project Overview: the client wanted a Voice-over IP service to enable customers make international calls that would be billed based on flexible rates. The service was to be implemented and handed over to be managed by Coollink staff via a convenient Web-based interface. MTech has successfully implemented this project in Q3 2003.

Project Overview: MTN wanted to launch a service that would give subscribers access to news, information, jokes, etc on their network. The objective being to differentiate their network and to drive an increase in voice and data traffic. The MTN Download Service was implemented by MTech and launched in Q4 2002. MTech has successfully run this service to date with actual usage of close to one million subscribers.
